Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Hi there,

Assume that we have a resource "Manhour".

This resource is available 100% during the summer period but it is available only 50% during the winter period.

By using resource calendar I could only change the working or nonworking days for that resource. But I want to change just the available resource rate for a given period? But how?

I have to show the resource S curve for summer and winter periods to our client.

Regards

Hi There,

Can we load this resource to ActID: AB100 like this:

Resource Dictionary:
(Using Hierarchical Resources)

ManDay** (Sum of all periods)
ManDayW1 (indicates winter period 1)
ManDayS1 (indicates summer period 1)
ManDayW2 (indicates winter period 2)
ManDayS2 (indicates summer period 2)
ManDayW3 (indicates winter period 3)

Through Activity Detail > Resources…
(Using Resource Lag and Durations)

ManDayW1: [ES: Jan 08 - EF: March 08] [Res Lag/Duration: 0 Days / 90 Days] [BQ: 200]
ManDayS1: [ES: Apr 08 - EF: Oct 08] [Res Lag/Duration: 90 Days /210 Days] [BQ: 600]
ManDayW2: [ES: Nov 08 - EF: March 09] [Res Lag/Duration: 300 Days / 150 Days] [BQ: 200]
ManDayS2: [ES: Apr 09 - EF: Oct 09] [Res Lag/Duration: 450 Days / 210 Days] [BQ: 600]
ManDayW3: [ES: Nov 09 - EF: Dec 09] [Res Lag/Duration: 660 Days / 60 Days] [BQ: 200]

{Assumption: Every month is 30 days}

As some friends says below, how can we set the above situation by using “Resource Limits”?

Any help?

David,
As Ronald has rightly pointed , use resource limits for the time period(s).

Cheers

Hi There,

Assume we have an activity;

ActID: AB100
ES:01.01.2008
EF:31.12.2009
Resource: ManDay

But,

During the summer seasons (April-October) Budgeted Quantity of Resource is 600 ManDay.
During the winter seasons (November-March) Budgeted Quantity of Resource is 200 ManDay.

How can I load that activity with this resource and how can I draw resource histogram for this case?

hello,

to be exact:
go to data\resources\ select "manhour" from the menu.

on the lower left limits window you can enter the periods normal/max values of said resource.

please check F1 when in the window to receive related help.

unfortunately there is no easy way to just say 50% less performance for said months in P3.

Gün.

Hi there,

OK.I will try.

But I need some more explanations for my concern.

May be I need a simple sample or I need to read some more literature for that.

David,

In the resource dictionary (Data --> Resources), select the resource u want and select limits from bottom window (select the Normal / Maximum units through the selected days).

David,

You are talking about Resource Leveling now. Set up your resource availbility levels per time period and then level the schedule. Good luck!
