My friends :Productivity Factoring
Factoring should be standard by geographical location/facility, by facility unit(operations)/areas, by disciple, by equipment or type of material to be installed as follows:
Civil ( Clearing and Grubbing, Site prep, or concrete etc..) = quantity to install by Unit of Measure (UoM)
Structural ( Light, Medium, Heavy) = quantity installed by UoM by Tons by level of complexity (low to high)
Mechanical (many Cheviots based around planned team efforts (civil (also UG electrical) and or structural, Foundations (curing considerations), Setting (pumps,exchangers,etc... vs Major heavy lift "Vessel Errection") all named, coded and labeled consistently too decided tag numbers******** will finish later. feel free to contact me at 1*409*457*7725 JEPM LLC jacob.armstrong@facebook.com a global SME.

F9 v Progress Update
The F9 or schedule option will run time analysis calculations on your project as it stands. This will not assume any progress on overdue activities and will move any unstarted, overdue activities up to the data date used in the current schedule options.
Progress update will apply actual progress to any activities sitting before the data date on the assumption that they were progressed as planned (note that P6 uses the PLANNED dates and not the Early Dates for this purpose.
So, if your project is going exactly as planned - use the Progress update option. If you need to apply specific progress to activities - update individual activities and then use the F9 or schedule option.

Where are we
Henri-Pierre,
I totally agree with you however we have to remember that there are a few new and inexperienced planners on this forum and we have to help them out. In general as a rule it's better to check internally within their own company first before posting sometimes very unprofessional and time wasting posts
Well spotted Henri-Pierre

Andy
Where are we ?
I'm amaized to read questions asked by so called "professionals" of planning, such as "productivity factors for this or that ?": gentlemen, this is the basis of our profession, to know those variables depending upon the contract, the location (country), the geographical conditions, the weather conditions, the social conditions, the human behavior and habits (country of origine), the number and quality of resources and mean available. To install a heat exchanger in a FSO in South Corea is (very) different of installing the same on an Assaluyeh plant in Iran, even if in both case Hyundai is the main contractor !
For my young fellow chaps: productivity factors, or outputs are to a Project Control person what the recepe is for Coca Cola ! Ask the Estimating Department of your company, you'll understand the concern !
Re-schudule calculation with new data date
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is the difference in using the f9 function key or "schedule" icon to recalculate when updating as opposed to the "Update Progress" drop down function in Tools (P6 Primavera)?
