Exporting P6 to P3...many missing resources

As P6 and P3 are totally different, you should be aware of those differences. On your Primavera Documentation CD (CD no.3) you can find a nice pdf "Moving from P3 to P6".

There are some restrictions in P3 against P6, mainly:

- Activity id: 10 characters vs. 20

- Resource id: 8 characters vs. 15+(sometimes)Hierarchy!

If longer, the values will be truncated in P3 and you may receive duplicate activities and resources. As those keys are unique the second record with the same key will be ignored.

So restrict activity-id’s and resource-id’s to 8 characters and it should be ok.

P5 and P6 are different levels of the same software, so minor difficulties - the new features.

exporting P6 to any scheduling software say P5 ,P3 or MS Project will not give you an optimal result nor positive results especially when you are generating report to converted file, some data’s or information will automatically missing upon convertion bec every scheduling sofware has different specification & doesnt match each softwa.re if you are doing your schedule to P6 then maintain your schedule in P6 same as to others.
