Balfour Beatty Carillion Joint Venture

Role: Planning Engineer

Project: East London Line Rail Project, Balfour Beatty Rail Projects and Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering, in a 50/50 joint venture were responsible with Carillion for railway works involving track, signalling, telecommunications and electrification, as well as major civil engineering works including two large new bridges, new stations and a new depot at New Cross Gate.

Responsibilities:

  • Build new programmes and maintain existing programmes in Primavera and other formats if required. Gather all relevant regarding planned and achieved milestones, managing dependencies and assigning of resources to the activities in the project plan.
  • Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). Plan and progress project schedules with or without resources. Creating roles and resources, assigning resources to activities under relevant WBS within any given active programme. Ensure planning data is kept up to date and project teams can access up to date information.

Create a project baseline which all progress and slippage will be measured against. Liaise closely with the commercial department to ensure that primavera is updated with rates and costs for labour, plant and materials, and when necessary Compensation Event Notices.
