Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

ALL,

Can anyone help me how to keep the activity dates fixed. Everytime i press the F9 some dates are automatically adjusting on their own. I have to replot each activities again and again.

I'm all done with the putting dates and relationships then when i press F9 all dates become distorted.

Thanks you for your help and i would appreciate your response

I have a simular problem.

I have a constrain - "Mandatory Start", if the activity has been startet and I press F9 the start date shiftes back to datedate.

If the activity is NOT startet, the date (mandatory start) will be kept as I typed it.

Any idea how I can ensure a mandatory start date that will not move after pressing F9?

In advance - thanks

Hi Russell

Also check that you do not have a logic loop.

Best regards

Hi Russell, Your planned finish date is later than your contract finish date because your critical path is longer than the amount of time you have. I would suggest reviewing your critical activities to see if you can shorten or overlap any of them enough to meet your desired completion date.

Thanks Neil and Ryan!

I already revised the schedule and ensure all activities are connected (thanks for the advice). Though there 2 or 3 activities which i don't know where to connect so i put a  "finish on" constraint to remove total float.

However, i have this other problem. After putting all activities into place (dates, duration and relationship), then i put actual dates and press F9 set my data on 30th of April. Our project is supposed to finish on June 30 2014 but when i press F9 end date automatically moved to October.

How can i fix end date to June 30 2014?

Thanks so much again for your brilliant advice.

Hi Russel,  when you press F9 you are scheduling your programme therefore any activities that are not held in place by either constraints or logic will move to the earliest date that it could be done - i.e the data date.

Try to make sure alll your activities have predecessors and successors in the first instance rather than put constraints on everything.

hope this helps

This is almost certainly a problem with constraints as well as relationships between activities. Make sure to check the status tab under activity details and check which constraints you have in place, or maybe need to put in place.

Good luck
