Tips on using this forum..

(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

(2) It's also good to get feedback when a solution is found, return to the original post to explain how it was resolved so that more people can also use the results.

Dear forum members, I am using on our project the Notebook in order to record reasons for delays for particular activities. It works fine, only problem is that I cannot export the notebooks nor I cannot create nice reports - for instance only for activities which have a non-blank notebook - I cannot filter them out.
My idea which doesn’t seem to be very practical would be to introduce an extra custom activity code which would have to be filled for activities which do have a notebook. This activity code would than be used for filtering.
Any suggestions perhaps, should I use the Issues instead? Thank you, Jan.

SDK, API or possibly XER?

P3 have a tool called xerFileParser&Builder.xls that may be of use.

Yes, that is an option, however, it still doesn’t allow us to filter out items which do not contain any notebook record.

Another way how to document delays or comments to particullar activities would be using ’issues’. Or how do you guys document your comments for delays?

U can assign Notebooks in Gantt Chart as a bar label.

With SDK you can directly filter these notebook items

Alex,

I know the report builder. However, my problem is not being able to filter only for activities which do contain any notebook record. The notebook is not an option for filtering nor for displaying it in a column. All I was able to do by the report builder was to show all activities with their notebook records, but I was not able to filter out activities which in fact do not contain any notebook record. The result is a long report with very little to say :-)

Thank you, Jan

I can see your problem of not able to filter notebook items.

In order to produce a useful report that contain all the notebook you can utilise the report builder (within P3e) Or using SDK to produce an custom reports.

Let me know if you need futher help
