(1) Explain your problem, don't simply post "This isn't working". What were you doing when you faced the problem? What have you tried to resolve - did you look for a solution using "Search" ? Has it happened just once or several times?

Hi Guys,

I wanted to copy some activities over from one project to another but I had to keep the activity IDs the same. The only way I could get that to work was to import the XER into the other project, which did work.

However, everytime I reschedule P6 acts as if I have 2 projects open and gives me the option to use each projects own data date or apply a selected data date to all projects.

Is there a way of getting P6 to think its just one project again?

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Guys,

Yes normally I open both projects together and then copy and paste the WBS over but that was messing up my Activity IDs.

Thanks Rodel, I have just started using the new version and didnt realise you get those options with only one project open!

Cheers,

Tom

open both projects at the same time filter for the activites that you want to copy and select then and select edit copy and go to the project that you want them in and select paste

Hi Tom,

You can also use drag and drap to move across the activity from one project to another project on activity window and or wbs window if you wanted to include the wbs if both projects are open at the same time. You can also use copy and paste or cut and paste options. This will maintain the activity ID if there is no duplicate activity ID.

If you are using P6v20 that option is available even on single project open. Even after the import and only one project is open you should be able to run the schedule on any option you selected because it has only one data date available on the open project.
