Beginner Resource Leveling Issue

Hi, I'm fairly new to MS Project and have been doing some practice pieces before I look at using it for anything at work. To this end I've created a schedule for a large dinner I'm making over the course of a week - over 100 components so it is also useful to have a detailed prep plan - but really this is just to get my head around the system. I have looked up several guides and googled answers, but am now well and truly stuck.

MSP 13 - Lost / Can't view "Overallocated Resources" graphic

Hi my first post and a cry for help please, I have been working on a couple of Petro-Chem plant shutdown plans for around 4 months, and have found the graphic for Overallocated Resources to be very helpfull when balancing out daily manhours for limited resources. But after a weekend off, simply cannot see any of that page where it should be?

I have tried clicking around to catch the filters which are hidden, in case it's been minimised to death by accident.

The second Plan, which is not so time critical still has this view available as usual

Driven predecessor in critical path

L
Lo Gary 👤 Member for 16 years 3 months

Dear all readers,

In Microsoft Project 2007, there was a function which enable us to know which predecessor out of other predecessors is driving the critch path, this function is no longer exists in later version.

Could anyone teach me, if I want to squeeze the critical path, and I trace back from the completion date backwards. However . some task have many predecessors and could I know which one is driving rather than I have to squeeze all predecessors.

Thank!

Regards,

Microsoft Project group by function: Can this be sorted by start date?

A
August O 👤 Member for 6 years 10 months

In MS Project, I have grouped tasks using the group by function however, the groups are in ascending order. I need this to be sorted by start date. Is this possible? Do i need add-ons for this? If so, which one?
Thanks

Importing a previous schedule as the baseline

E
Emma Lang 👤 Member for 9 years 9 months

Hi Everyone,

Is there anyway you can import a previous version of the schedule as a baseline to the current version? I have a subcontractor who updated the schedule and set the baseline on the current dates. Unfortunately the delivery date is a month later than the contractual date, but the previous baseline detail is now lost. However I do have the original version of the schedule so if there was anyway that information could be imported it would be much easier than taking the activities back to the original state, baselining and replanning.

Office 365 compatibility

Hello Planners,

One customer of mine is working with Office 365 and MS Project 2010; he cannot use MS Project Visual Reports because these two software applcations cannot work together (I do have the same problem when using MSP 2016 with MS Excel 2010).

Does somebody know if Office 365 can be used with MSP 2013 or 2016 to build Excel-exported Visual Reports? For time being, we are not mentionning the new MSP 2013/16 internal "visual" reports

Thank you
