Naseer Yama 👤 Member for 13 years 11 months

Hi All,

I'm now working on a baseline and i want to add for each activity it's budgeted cost.

How can i import all cost of activities from Excel to primavera P6,instead of adding budgeted cost manually for each activity?

Please help me!

When To Rebaseline?

S
Steve Shunk 👤 Member for 13 years 11 months

Is it customary to rebaseline and incorporate the changes when any of the following occur?

1. You are utilizing Rolling Wave planning and activities that were once way out in the future and had little or no details now have better information.

2. A contractor has been delayed and the client agrees with the time extensions.

3. You have four quadrants where work will take place. You originally were going to execute like North, South, East, West and now the plan is to work North, South, West, East.

4.

Productivity

D
David Craig 👤 Member for 16 years 8 months

Hi Guys,

I’m just posting to see if anyone can help with a query I have on productivity.

I work on an oil refinery for a large E&I contractor who hold the term contract here. Our duties are to perform all project works from installing new cables for substations to piping up new instruments. This means my programme is made up of hundreds of jobs that range from 6 hours up to 5000 hours.

Apartment Modifications Schedule

I am currently working as Client rep on a residential tower of high end apartments. The Contractor is expected to allow the Client to introduce apartment modifications during the construction phase  in a random manner. ie: the Client can introduce changes to an apartment on the 1 st floor while the contractor has reached the 7th floor in concrete without abortive works. The contractor is proposing milestones for the Client to provide these apartment changes in batches of 10 apartments every 2 months. Accordingly the Contractor will proceed with his procurement and constrcution.

Civil Engineering

D
David Craig 👤 Member for 16 years 8 months

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone would be able to explain some of the processes carried out in civil engineering.

I come from an electrical background so I have no knowledge of civils or any activities they carry out.

If i was to carry out the same exercise for the electrical industry I would explain the following:

1 - Installation of containment - Could be traywork, ladder rack, conduit, trunking, ducting etc - Basically anything that carries cables/pipework.

Planning Office or Site based

Afternoon Guys,

Just want to get your thoughts on whether you think a planner should be office or site based? I am use to a combination of the two depending on the project, but I ask as I have recieved two phone calls regarding possible openings and when I enquired regarding where is the position based in both instances the person said office and was supprised that I considered the role a combination of both site and office based working.

Your thoughts are welcomed.

Pre-Construction Activities

Hi All,

I am trying to complete a schedule that another planner has already started. Unfortunately, he hasn't linked his pre-construction activities together. For example, there are preparation for submittal activites with predecessor "effecvtive start date"; they all start at the same time.

My Question is, How can I link those activies in a way that I do not have them all start at the same time and not delay my construction activites. Should I look at the free float? please explain as I am new to planning.

Thanks
