Sequence of Construction Activities ( Planning )

Hi Everyone

I'm trying to create a Programme of works for a commercial building and i really need a guidance on the sequence of works that'll probably state the activities that needs to follow each other both Civil,MEP/Architectural. Either a book or a Link to a Video will be appreciated. I just want to have ideas of creating the right relationship for the right activities ( in General )

regards

Finish-to-Start Relationship with Lag

Hello Everyone,

It is generally noted and as per this: http://www.ronwinterconsulting.com/rabaseline.htm point #92 that having having a Lag in a FS is not a good practice. Can someone pls provide more insight into my situation as below (Construction Project):

The predecessor is finishing on 10/02/15 while the successor will have to start on 10/04/15. I have a FS with 59d lag but a colleague (who is a planning consultant) advises that a lag should NEVER exist in FS relationship. Please assist in shedding more lights.

Thanks.

Ade.

Calendar Change Issue

J
Jimmy Xie 👤 Member for 12 years 5 months

Hi guys,

Here I got one problem regarding calendar change. We submitted the baseline and approved from client, in which the calendar used is user-defined 6 working days.

Now, delay happens to project. And when we are doing EOT, the project complete date is 6 month later than baseline finish date. And we found that the 6 working days' calendar used in baseline is only defined until baseline finished date, i.e. after baseline finish date, 7 days working calendar will be applied to activities.

So, is that ok to revise the calendar in baseline when doing the time impact?

Hi there

Ive recently moved to a new company and went from using P6 to MS Project, i havent had any training on MS Project and basically taught myself over the last 5 weeks. Trouble is its not a great resource utilisation tool - i may be wrong on this so please dont shoot me down for saying that!

Actual Units for Assigned Resources are not correct as per physical %

Hi,

I need some help from your rich experience in updating resource loaded program.

Actually i am facing some issues while updating the resource loaded items. When I update the physical %ge complete of the task, I think the assigned units will also updates by its own and same with remaining units. But in my cast, it is not happening and I need to update them manually which is very time consuming. Some time the material resource gets updated but the labour resources are never line up.

Below is the example for that:

One item has assigned resources as follow:
