Hi All,
What settings must I use to get P6 to change Activity Duration when I add extra Resources?
Lets say I have I have a 10 day activity with 1 Resource on it and 100 units, when I add an additional same Resource I want the duration to reduce to 5 days and retaining 100 units.

I have used P3, P5, and P6 for many years, but this latest version of Primavera P6 needs URGENT REVISING!
It is really troublesome, and I will AVOID IT as much as I can from now on!
1) Even though the Start Date considers constraints entered after the project has begun, the Finish Date value is NOT considering! Furthermore, the Finish Date considers the original Start date (without constraint) plus lag (if any), and can be entered DIRECTLY. In this case it will function more or less like a "Finish Milestone" - without being displayed as such!!
Do you use the 'Multiple Float Paths' functionality within the scheduler of P6 Web (EPPM)?
I'm using R8.2 (B0869) 12.13.2011.1223 and am finding that it locks up (wont re-schedule using a new target milestone), after a single use. It can only be unlocked by either re-scheduling with 'no float paths', or by remotely re-scheduling the same project in P6 Professional (PPM) and screen re-freshing the Web version.
If anyone is aware of this being a known (and possibly patched) issue, I would be very appreciative.

I'm getting an error message when trying to convert an XER file from an old version of P6 (version 6.0) to one of the latest versions of P6 (version 17.2). I get the following error message:
"An application vent has been intercepted. Please note the event code for reference.
Event code: AVAA0-0863-B"
Anyone knows how to solve this problem?
I am working in Primavera P6 version 8.2. I can't explain why I'm seeing different behaviour in different files, given that I believe I am building them all the same way. Clearly, something is different, but I can't find it.
Specifically, when I mark progress for activities, in some of my files P6 will assign Actual Costs to that activity, and in some of my files it won't. My preference is to have Actual Costs not automatically assigned.

This in regards to my effort to carry a summary level schedule (about ~ 250 lines), out of 10000 line itmes schedule, to provide the management, overall high-level view of the project. The big part of the 10000 line items is EPCM schedule, which gets updated monthly. The way I created it, I used summary LOE activities in summary schedule and linked ss and ff with 10000 lne item schedule. However, when I update it on monthly basis and re-schedule, I start getting circular relationship issue and I can not update the ISS file. I was wondering help on 2 things:
Loaded my permitting with units to track an s-curve. Assigned 200 000 units across the activities. My report only has 194104 units in cumulative planned but cumulative estimate to & at completion indicates the 200 000 units loaded. No filters assigned that can trip me up and percent complete type set to units.
What could be the problem?

When i opened Primavera none of my toolbars are available and are missing, any idea how to restor them?

I have got a serious issue when exporting P6. I am using barnd new Toshiba Tecra Z50-C laptop. And I am using P6 as standalone.
Whenever I am trying to export file , my laptop get freeze. In my current employer no body use P6 and the IT team also could not figure out what is the cause.
