Updating Baseline

I've tried updating a baseline in P6 and even if I change one activity by 5 days I receive the following error message in the log file. Assignment remaining start date cannot be earlier than activity remaining start date. 

Does the baseline not get updated at all if there are errors or will it only not update the activities affected?

I've tried searching for the assignment remaining start date and I can't seem to find it, I don't really fully understand what the error message means.

P6 8.3 Install problem

I am having problems intalling P6 on my machine. The following message is popping up:

''Primavera P6 Professional R8.3.2 setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install the program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard''.

I have tried several times and this keeps on happening.

How can this be rectified?

Problem importing activities from excel

Hello all,

Here is the issue im facing;

I made my activity list in excel with each WBS codes with the exact codes in Primavera. I then made one new activity in Primavera, exported the xls file, added the "Activity ID", "WBS code", "Activity name" and "Duration" of each actvity, and made sure the "Duration" was formatted to text, but when I import it I get an Error message saying';

Problem Installing P6 8.3

Hi everybody,

 

I was using P6 6.0 without any problem. After some time , I ve decided the install SQL and installed. From that moment, I received database error from P6 when I try to log in. I tried to reinstall but nothing changed. In addition , while installing I am getting an error which is ""Oracle XE P6 professsional databse creation failed.Please see the log file at C:\Users.... """ .Is there anybody help me on that matter. Thanks in advance.

Changing Remaining on Non-Statused Activities (RD is Different than OD)

I'm working with a contractor who has just reciently changed the remaining duration on a few un-statused activites in the latest update. This is based on the USACE schedule requirement:

3.3.13 Original Durations

Activity Original Durations (OD) shall be reasonable to perform the work

item. OD changes are prohibited unless justification is provided to

and approved by the Contracting Officer.

LoE budgeted units not matching activity calendar

I have a role assigned to a LoE (fixed duration & units/time) which has a standard 5 day calandar.

Budgeted units / time is 100% and the total budgeted units in the resource assignments window match the activity duration. Planned dates match forecasted.

 

The issue is that in the resource assignments spreadsheet it is showing 25 units in June 2019 where the calendar only has 20 working days. Why are the budgeted units not aligned to the activities calendar?

How can I Schedule from a known finish date backwards....

I saw a scheduler do this once in P6 and I trying to replicate what he did.

 

Say I need to be Finished on 12/31/19 and I have a schedule built out.  How can I schedule from that date backwards essentially given me the latest start of all activities to achieve that Must Finish by date?

 

In other words, I am trying to figure out how to schedule all activities from a finish MS backwards.  Nothing hitting the Data Date until it gets to the start of the first activity in that chain of logic.

P6 "Ghost" resources - not assigned to WBS/Activity, but exist in Resource Assignments?

Hi All,

wondering if anyone has come across this before and has a solution at all?

I've got a project with circa 250k hours remaining, and on 'Activities' screen all looks ok. When I switch to 'Resource Assignments', grouped by WBS, I have three resources sitting outside the project under 'No WBS' / 'No Activity Name' / Blank Activity ID but with remaining hours meaning the total is different. I'm not able to delete them via this screen either, although I am able to delete others?

any help much appreciated

Download Primavera PPM ver 18 from Oracle website

Hi,

I was trying to download the Primavera PPM stand alone ver 18.8, from oracle website.

No I am stuck at the window, asking for the connection string and the data base configuration with username and password.

Have anyone experienced it while downloading.

Appreciate, if anyone can share the solution.

Change date format on Group & Sort

Hi all,

Trying to Group & Sort by Start Date (Group Internal =Day) and can't seem to find a way to change the date format. In my User Preferences, I have the Date Format set as Day, Month, Year yet in the Group & Sort it shows as Month, Day (US format). Anyone point me in the right direction to change this?
