Powerproject - Project Comparison / Forensics?

T
Tim Kempe 👤 Member for 12 years 9 months

Hello All,

I'm a longtime P6 user looking to make the switch to PP (at last!). As I get ready to do so, I would like some best practices for comparing a series of project updates back to previous baseline(s). Is it done within PP or via some other 3rd Party software?

Thanks, Tim

Formatting Column Width of UTID

Hi,

I have aded the Unique Task ID to the spreadsheet section of my programme as I like to be able to talk about activities by number or WBS rather than lines as line numbers can change dependant on what bars are rolled up in summaries when you print.

I am however having difficulty formatting my columns when I come to print to pdf.  I have a number of procurement streams  in the programme which have more than one activity on each line and as a result the column width when printed becomes quite wide, as it shows all UTID in the one column.

Time to Go Column & Hiding duration for the summary line

Hi,

How can I add the column to show the remaining days for an activity to start? I assume it should be a formula Today's date minus the activity's start date. Please see the photo below;

Also, how can I hide the start/finish/duration columns' values for the summary lines? Please see photo below;

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards,

Yarkin

Asta Version 15.0.01 - Did the "Save As" an XER get removed ?

Up until late May ’20 I could utilize a “Save As” function to retain a copy of an Asta Project as an XER File (for translation to P6)

.

I am now on Version 15.0.01 – The "Save/Save As" drop down does not offer the ability to Save As and XER (only variations of .pp  for Powerproject and EasyPlan files)

.

Additionally, When I try to utilize the Import / Export to P6 function, the File > Browse window will only look for a “saved” XER.

.

A
Anu hans 👤 Member for 8 years 6 months

I have created a column for Planned Percent Complete(PPC). When I opened the Table Definition Dialogue Box under Measure of Progress I can choose on drop down following options;

Duration

Overall

Cost

I'd like to know the difference when reporting progress between duration vs Overall please?

Covid-19 Production assessments

Is there a quick process of applying a reduced productivity to remaining activities on a programme to assess the impact of Covid-19? This is as a result of a reduced permitted workforce on site e.g. 66% efficiency v planned. Can this be done in a new calendar for example? I have been manually calculating and adjusting bars but is there an easier way.
Thanks.

Asta Baseline Comparison (what demarcation is used?)

Hello All - I hope this question is scripted well enough to understand.

Simply put: Question - what demarcation does Asta PowerProject use to compare Baseline Tasks ? (I am on v14.0.3)

(Line #, Unique Task ID, Activity Name, something else ?)

Default duration unit

Hello, Powerproject fanatics

Maybe the answer to my question is so obvious, however I was not able to find it

I want to enter the task duration in days; therfore I key in "5" for a task whose duration in "5 working days"

When I enter the duration of tasks in the spreadsheet, Powerproject always converts these 5 "days" into 5 "weeks", and displayes the value "25d" in the duration column.

Having looked everywhere in the dlalog boxes and the Online help, I cannot find my way.

Who will help me?

Thank you,

Alexandre
