Updating a Program with 5,000 Activities

Hi All,

 

I have a programe with almost 5000 activities.No for a specific Period there are hundreds of activities going on.What is the best way to update such programs?

I am using Primaver P6

I am using the filter for two weeks lookahead in my P6v7,

Where, Start is "is within the range of" DD and DD+2 Weeks

And, Activity Status "not equals" Completed

What is the difference?

Hi SM

Alternatively you can invest in better software such as Asta Powerproject where you can copy and paste fron a spreadsheet directly into the progress column - job done in 10 secoonds.

Much cheaper than 2 assistants - and you toggle directly between P6 and Asta at any time.

Agreed you can filter out all ongoing activities as well as activities during the period to be updated and with the help of some assistant schedulers or meeting with the supervisors and collate information.

can you please tell me 2 weeks ahead filter.I normally apply this,

Where ,  Start is" Less than or Equal to" DD+2 Weeks

and Activity Status "equals"  In Progress.

 

Is it correct.Anybody else?

In my exp updating is not a problem, it takes more time.

Problem is in that collecting the informationm, for that i would advise you to have 1 or 2 assistants.
