Adding resource man hours to a schedule

A
Alan Banks 👤 Member for 15 years 3 months

Should resource man hours that are added into a schedule contain an inefficiency factor or be solelyestimated direct hours to complete a task? There's one school of thought that the resultant resource histogram should show the additional resourcing required due to "possible" inefficiencies whereas a different school of thought says the histogram should be based on only activity direct hours and not to include an inefficiency factor.

What is the Most Important Metric of Critical Path Analysis?

I just posted a new article: “What is the Most Important Metric of Critical Path Analysis?”

The article starts by differentiating between CPM scheduling and critical path analysis, pointing out that the latter is relevant in optimizing the value of the project investment no matter how the schedule was originally developed. Then it goes on to show why those little known metrics, critical path drag and drag cost, are critical to critical path analysis.

You can find the article here.

Target Programme

Dear All,

I need your expert advice on the following so plaese refine the below answers

1) What are basic principles and logic behind to prepare Target Programme when the Contract Programme is already in place?

Ans: Target Programme is the detailed programme which we prepare by adding new activities, changing the sequence and logic of contractual activities as per Site conditions to meet the Contractual finish date or complete the project at earliest

Adverse Weather

hello,

I need to build a schedule including adverse weather based on Q50 and one Q90. What does it exactly mean?

Second part of the question each affected activity shall show networking time and adverse weather delays? How can this be done? I assume it should be seen in the gantt chart but one activity should show both i.e. net working time and adverse weather.

Can this be done in PRIMAVERA P6 alternatively in MS PROJECT? Dan if positive anwser i would be very interested in finding out how.

Thank in advance,

johan
