EVM Work To Go formula

S
sam dsoza 👤 Member for 19 years 11 months

My client would like me to provide % contingency left on the project with respect to BAC and EAC.

The formula would then be (contingency remaining) / (work left to go)

Now

For BAC, fomula would be (BAC - EV) for remaining work to go.

For EAC, would the formula be (EAC - EV) or (eac - actual costs) for work left to go?

Please note that EAC calulation is manual which is a sum total of (actual cost to date) + (estimate of work left to go) + (estimate of future known baseline change)

Thanks to the EVMS experts in advance.

Updating baselines with multiple open projects

Hi All,

I am having trouble understanding how the baseline updating works when multiple projects are opened at the same time.

I want to batch export data on several projects. After opening all the projects, when I want to reassign the baseline, it only allows me to reassign/update only one of the projects baseline. Shown below:

Even if I try to change the project and then change the baseline and rerun the schedule, it still picks the default project and baseline. So, I have several questions:

Building a Schedule No historical information

S
sam dsoza 👤 Member for 19 years 11 months

Hello

How would you go about building a reliable schedule when the project that you are planning is completely new.

What are the requirement considerations, how would you break the scope of work, estimate resources durations costs etc.

Any guidance / advice from senioe planners will be greatly appreciated.

Activity Weighting Parameter

Hello Everybody,

I hope you will be able to advice me regarding the following matter.

I am working at the moment on a tender programme and I came across a special requirement from the client for the quality of the schedule which I have never met before.

The client requires the following:

All Activity progress related should be loaded with the specific resource undertaking the activity Weighting Parameter.

I was using only physical percentage complete to show the progress.

How do you share Project Plan details with other people involved in the project both in/out of company?

Hello All,

I am interested in an opinion on the following:

Do you spend a lot of time on providing each participant in a project with information dedicated specifically to them?

Prefab Pod Schedule

A
ade afe 👤 Member for 8 years 3 months

Hello

I have recently transited into planning from architecture and i am working on a multi story residential project. I have been asked to do a "Pod Schedule" for the flats as we are using prefab pod bathrooms. What is a pod schedule? does anyone know or has the installation sequence (for pod bathroom)? my email address is [email protected]. As i am from an architectural background, i am thinking it maybe like a typical door or window schedule but not sure.

Interactive Planning Session Question

A few times a month, I facilitate interactive planning sessions between owners and subcontracted engineers and constructors. Normally ill print out a big paper timeline, hadwrite activity descriptions on post it notes and positon them on the timeline before the meeting starts. During the course of the discussion, we'll move the post it notes around to create our baseline plan. After the meeting, I'll input the information into P6 with logic, durations, and resources. At that point our baseline schedeule is created.
