Planning software market share

Dear all,

would be possible to have a market share about planning/scheduling software for the most representative countries in the world? I know that software like Primavera and Microsoft Project are well known, but how much? what is the %?

Project Dashboard for Resources

I have been put up with the task of coming up with a way to track resources per project in one major schedule within P6. The essential function for this schedule is to know if our company needs to vamp up engineers. My company has the history of giving their engineers too much work where we fall behind on deliverables. This could be a cornerstone for improving on our deliverables and a possibility for more work. If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Is it common practice to have a internal control schedule for a project?

I did several projects before, we have a master schedule for the project to control the execution. The schedule is also the one we submitted to the client. So we only maintain one schedule.

Now, I 'm in a new company. here we have three schedules for each project. The first one is the internal control schedule which keep some time contengency against the contract, developed by the headquarer of the company. This control schedule only contains some major activities, it does not cover the entire scope of the contract, and is not logic driven.

Engineering Sequencing

I am trying to schedule an EPC project but I am unsure of the logic that is incorpoarted in each discipline: Process, Mechanincal, Structure/Civil, instrumentation, Electrical, and Piping. Also, how are disciplines connected to one another? If anyone can please send me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Opinions regarding the display of long lead items on a programme

Is it better practice to summarise long lead items in one summary bar at the top or bottom of the chart, separated from the construction activities or amongst the construction activities?

In my experience, putting the lead ins as line items immediately above the installation activity seems to throw some colleagaues as they misinterpret the procurement durations as being part of the on site durations for say the fit out of a particular unit; while others fail to pick up the long lead items at all if they are separated on the programme page.

Digitalization of Last Planner

Dear Members,

 

I have been working as a planner at Skanska Hungary Ltd for more than two years.

In August las year we started to implement the Lean Construction Management (the Last Planner too). Now we started within a new project the TVD and ADM, however some colleages involved have recently come up with the request whether there is  a solution (for instance an app) to digitilaze the post-it schedule.

I wonder whether some of you have already faced such a requirement and how to manage to solve it.

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Problem on Updating

Good morningPlease am having issues when reporting, when ever i have to update the percentage work progress in it changes the finished date assigned to it by reducing the actual date and if i try to bring it back to the actual date that is assigned to it, it will reduce the percentage to zero percent. what is cause am confused in P6  Thanks

Earned Value Advice

Good evening

I am currently on an EPC project as a client-planner. The programme was baseline with the contract sum at the commencement of the project by the Turnkey  Contractor. The project is now into a year out of its 2yrs lifespan.

The process I have in place is to request the contractor to send xer at the end of the month, so I can conduct necessary due diligence and produce an earned value report.

My director has just questioned why the contract sum on the EV report has not changed considering, the budget has increased by various VO’S.
