Budgeted Costs Lost during XER Import

BACKGROUND:

I have received an xer which I know is cost loaded using the 'budgeted cost' field (confirmed using acumen fuse).

I believe the budgeted costs are calculated dynamically using units and unit rates , in other words the budget cost is not a fixed, manually recorded figure.

When importing the xer , all of the budgeted cost data is lost.

I have tried running a global change to turn off the 'calculate costs from units' , but receive the following error and cannot run the change :

Activity Layout / Website Timescale Issue

Hi, I publish a website or Activity Layout and face a problem.  The timescale in the website or the Activity layout is totally not reflecting my project start and finish dates.   For instance my project start/finish dates are 2018 to 2020, the timescale is showing 2010 - 2011.  And, I am unable to change this timescale in anyway. I have tried changing Timescale from Page Setup but it doesn't help at all. Can anyone help?ThanksRegards

Programme Revision Narative Template

Hi,

When issuing a revised programme I tend to write a narrative in an email to go with the programme.

I was hoping however to get a bit more concise as to the way I report the changes in the revision and the implications of these changes.

I was therefore wondering if anyone had a template they use for describing the programme changes.

Regards

Chris

Creating an Alert message box in MS PRoject

P
Pete McCann 👤 Member for 6 years 11 months

Dear all, I would like to create a message box in MS Project that appears once the date of a particular milestone in a Plan of Work has changed. In this example, I have a task finish date that is the end of the project "Project End". While working on updates to the Plan, I would like a message box to appear if the date of "Project End" is later than its value when the file is opened (i.e. the changes I've made have made the Project End date shift later). I would like the message box to appear at any time during the editing or updating of the Pland of Work until the plan is saved.

Resource Usage Spreadsheet Distribution Issues

Hi ,

I have a project, for which I have resource loaded an "X" engineering discipline. The monthly distribution, looks ok, but when I zoom to see the weekly distribution, it dosen't show a proper resource histogram. Thereby i thought to re-adjust in the weeks, in the same month. However when I go to "Resource Assignment Tab" with timescale set to "Month/week", the figures aren't legible and I am unable to manually edit the weekly distribution. I tried to zoom out and zoom in, but the weekly distribution column window is not legible.

Thanks !

Construction Resource Management Software alternative to MS Project?

Hi! The company I'm working for has been using MS Project for the longest time and they're looking to switch over to either Bridgit or Procore, they're leaning more towards Bridgit though. I also read some articles about the benefits of these software from Bridgit here: www.bridgitsolutions.com/guide-construction-manpower-planning and it's very interesting. Have any of you used either products? If so, which one do you think is better?

Extra time put in developing schedules

Is it just me, or do others put in quite a bit of extra time for Baseline P6 Schedule & other P6 Schedule Submittals.  Never had a position where you get overtime, I think maybe I figured if I was more efficient maybe I could have go it done in regular hours - but that is BS, it takes longer than most people would assume or estimate.  I would say now, after too many all-nighters, I always go for less line items, but often the spec forces high, even un-necessary detail.  Any rules you live by to avoid this?  I've tried scheduling the scheduling but then that takes tim

Float at WBS Level / How Float is Calculated at WBS Level

How in all of the God's names is the 'Total Float' value shown at the WBS level calculated ?

For some WBS levels, the float appears to be the lowest (most critical) float value of the activities contained underthat WBS level.

However for other WBS levels, the float mayto be the highest (least critical) float value of the activities contained underthat WBS level , or even something in between.

I can not understand how the float value at the WBS level is calculated - can anyone help undersand this??????

Negative and High Total float in P6 Schedule

I have a schedule in P6, with Negative floats (-20d)and High Total Float (in 3 digits). There are only 2 constrainsts I have applied.  As per Fuse score, the high float and negative float is impacting the most. The constraint score is green. Its almost 1800 line item schedule. How can I go about resolving this. Appreciate a quick response, this being urgent for me to deliver.
