CAREER GROWTH FOR A PLANNING & PROJECT CONTROL PROFESSIONAL

M
Mrinal Das 👤 Member for 5 years 8 months

I am a planning and project control professional with 15 years of post qualification experience. So far what my understanding is that career growth opportunity in project management functional domain is quite high and like my fellow professionals I also want a high growth going ahead in my career. To achieve my intended goal shall I go for a PMP certification or an MBA? Any thoughtful suggestion is highly appreciated

P6 Feature: Notebooks

Tensix has a good article on a feature in P6 that is oftentimes taken for granted but is actually an important aspect of using the software whether for record-keeping, forensics, analysis, or facilitating project teams for schedule development and updates.

projected NTP and contractual dates vs actual start

If a contract uses NTP and Substantial Completion dates in the bid documents, and the NTP starts significantly after, such as 50 days.  What would you call simply sliding the timeframe.  It should not require a change order because the odds of starting on that exact date are low.  Change Orders generally have to go to a board meeting which is overkill if everyone is agreement.  Also, "high level proceed orders" can be used but that again brings negative attention to something that is just business as usual.  What can sliding the dates (not increasing contract durati

Rate Change in P6

There was a rate change on my schedule. All ended activities accepted the changes without any issue same with all future activities without actual. My problem is that all Activities that are in progress and exceeded the current data date are still retaining old rate. E.g let say I have an activities that was planned for 6months at £200 the activity started and actual taking in April we made rate change to 250.i expect the 250 to be the new rate for the remaining duration but that is not the case the remaining months keep going back to the original rate.

Resource teams in P6 20

I would like to make resource teams (groups) for material, labour & non-labour resources so that these teams can be assing to an individual activity. For example.

I have team for  clearing existing roadsigns prior to the new roadconstruction. This is a standard team with labourer, equipment, and consumable resources.

I can assing each individual resource to a activity but I would like to do this with the assignment of an complete group including cost.

Can you help?

Project performance metrices for a portfolio of projects

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Dear all, I am just wondering whether there are any accepted metrics for tracking a schedule-related performance of a group of projects, rather than an individual project. E.g. for example for an individual project there is a Schedule Performance Index. But what about a group of projects? Is there anything like that? We have to assume that if we have a portfolio of active projects, then at each individual given moment of time all projects will be at a different period of their life.
