I have encountered people (planners & non planners) with 2 schools of thoughts when it comes to updating programme.
1) First Type (Static type)
" The baseline programme logic and relationship is fixed, you can't change when updating."
" Update the programme to show the contractual position of the project"
People call it the so-call " baseline update"
2)Second type (Dynamic type)
I am trying ti establish a filter for hiding the activities in a schedule that are 100%.
That is easy.
My schedule is broken down by 4 areas.
As part of that filter, I still need to show all activities (including the ones that are 100% complete) in 1 of those areas.
(so basically I want to show all activities that are not complete, but I also want to show all activities (complete or not) in one of the 4 areas.
All activities are task dependent.

Dear All,
I am preparing commissioning schedule for 4000 MW combined cycle schedule. It has a configuration of 2GTX2HRSGX1ST total 6 groups. I am in the dialema that which software will be helpful to me in the log run if i want to monitor it on weekly basis. I am currently working on two softwares Primavera P6 and MS Project-2010.
If anybody can help me with that.

After exporting a P6 project to MPP, several activities durations are showing incorrect durations - however you tried to correct the start and finish dates the duration stays incorrect?

It seems like with today's increasing effecienecy of computers and Internet bandwith it would be possible to develop more precise, accurate and effecient alogrithms than critical path methodoloy. In particular using machine learning and dedicated hardware to compute a schedule faster, with more dimensions of information and probabilities. when i am updating my program i noticed that in some WBS nodes, all the activities for example have -13 days float, but the last activity in this WBS has a -11 days float, whats the explanation for that ??
this issue has been repeated in other WBSs, and also i noticed that some activities have total float -32 days but the project completion milestone has only -20, any explanation for that too ??
