NEC3 & Multiple Critical Paths

Dear all,

This is for a project using NEC3, but I'm unfortunitely on a site without a copy of the NEC to hand.

The client is stating the reason for not accepting our programme as being because there are multiple critical paths shown in the programme. My initial response was along the lines of;

Measuring physical progress of procurement phase

M
M N 👤 Member for 12 years 6 months

Dear All,

 Proud to be a member of planning planet, this is my first question.

I am used to maintining 2 resources in my schedules - Manpower and cost. In baseline, both are converted to percentage (10000 points) and are updated further in agreement with the client. Physical progress is based on earned weightage - manpower.

Scheduling Best Practice Conundrums

There are some common mistakes made during the creation of project schedules, particularly by folks who are new to the art. In this article I’ll be pointing out a few of the most frequent scheduling faux pas that we encounter out in the field, and talk about common best practice guidelines and the dilemmas that these can throw at schedulers working in the real world. http://ow.ly/rvS1t

critical path

S
Sunil Babu 👤 Member for 15 years 7 months

Dear All,

What will be the defference if a critical path is artificially created, or how will it affect the progress monitoring.

Is there any problem with an artificially created critical path which follows the correct logic of sequence ..

Your comments will be appreciated

Best Regards,

Sunil.

Complex Engineering Projects; most effective corrective actions to improve on delivery date - Research

Dear planners!

I would appreciate your support with the following;

There is still space for improvement in the timely delivery of complex engineering projects.

I request your view on how to contribute to this aim.

The importance of planning and controls is still massively underrated,
that is why I am writing my dissertation on planning.

We know there have been multiple attempts to tackle the issue of timely delivery, but more progress can be made.

So I would like to get to the heart of the matter by contacting the specialists planning engineers.

Implication to resources in early and late schedule

T
Tim Tam 👤 Member for 13 years 1 month

Hi,

Can I enquire if the contractor is to commit to the resources and equipment loaded in the loaded schedule ?

And are they also suppose to commit to the resources in the late schedule as well, from the late start/finish ?

The peak resource requirement is going to differ , and are there also any guideline On the appropriate % difference ?
