Interpretation of The Difference between The Impacted and The Updated Schedule

A delay event was modeled/inserted into an agreed upon schedule which was updated just before the delay event’s start date; this exercise has resulted in giving a new project completion date (say 10 days later). However, the subsequent (regular) schedule update which reflects the Contractor’s actual progress (say “data date” is one month later than the impacted one) is showing new project completion date equals to 15 days later.

In the above scenario we can see that:

The impacted schedule (at the beginning of the Window) gives a delay of 10 days

EOT Evaluation

T
Tim Tam 👤 Member for 13 years 1 month

Hi,

Must I use TIA, IAP, APAB, CAB to do EOT claim and evaluation ?

If I can prove the delay not using the above method, will it be acceptable ?

I'm not using P6 but Microsoft project, all I need is to identify the critical path from the programme and put in the actual start and finish date of delay into the activities, it will change the end date of the whole program. the difference from the baseline end date and new date will be the delay impact. to me is as simple as that.

NEC3 - Terminal Float

B
Bo Johnsen 👤 Member for 20 years 3 months

Hi all,

If the Contract states that the float from planned completion to contractual completion of the different sectional milestones and the final completion date belongs to the Contractor, would you then make activities for that float in the baseline programme or just leave as is and take up the discussion at a later stage should it become relevant?

DELAY ANALYSIS

Hi Guys,

May I request an assesment on this;

Given:

Phase 1 (unit rate)

Phase 2 (provisional sum)

Both phases are in one contract with the duration of 20 months commencing 1 Jan 2009 - 1Aug 2010.

Now, there is approved program which the Phase 1 will start on 1 Jan 2009 and finish on 1 August 2010 and Phase 2 will start on 1 Jan 2010 and will finish on 1 August 2010. The Engineer gives notice to proceed for Phase 2 on 1 Jan 2011. The question is which duration will be implemented? 20 months or 8 months for phase 2?

Claim for EOT and Out of Sequence

Dear PP,

Good day to all. I am having some ambiguity regarding the proper way in analyzing the claims for EOT. I just want to know your opinion if we need to correct the out of sequence activities prior to window analysis?

Your expertise with this matter is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Ritchie

Methodology

Has anyone heard of an As-Is Methodology.

Using progress only update data, with an option to modify when (as built) dates do not match( progress update ) critical activities dates.

I try and stick to the guidelines a reference with the SCL protocol, and 29r-3, so never heard of this used before, as it seems too manipulative, requiring more substantiation.

Any thoughts

Wet weather contingency

R
Rob Kane 👤 Member for 22 years 4 months

Hi there,

This post could go under a few of sections on here. The question I have is in the handling of wet weather contingency in a schedule. What are the different methods available and which is best for managing it and why?

I am throwing out a few suggestions. ( I know there could be entitlement even if there is not an impact to schedule but am trying to establish the best way to protect key delivery dates)

Using a project calendar and allow for wet days? Or
Add a declared time risk allowance to each of the tasks that may get affected by rain?

American Contractor - no resource planning allowed

In recent years, if not decades some of our institutions have taken the initiative to prohibit the Contractor to plan.  Some associations have issued their own so called Recommended Practice or Good Practice and use their name to promote and justify practices that prohibit the contractor to plan using his means and methods.

When to put forward an EOT claim in case of ongoing Employer Risk Event

K
Kaif Mohsin 👤 Member for 15 years 3 months

Dear All,

I would like to know that is it correct to submit an EOT even before the conclusion of an Employer Risk Event? In the project I am working on there has been a delay in the delivery of one of the Client supplied material. The installation of the same item is on the critical path as per the approved Baseline programme. As of the information at hands, it may take another 3-4 weeks before it reaches the site. In the meanwhile notification for the delay has already been send to the CR.
