P6 Professional R19.12 Importing MS Excel Resource Data

Hello,

I have a major scheduling project with a client, and I need an efficient way to input Resource data into P6 Professional. I would like to have the client provide a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet of resource data and then import this into P6 Professional.

Unfortunately, P6 Professional does not read data in the spreadsheet that has a column heading including a (*). This means it will only import the below variables.

Resource ID

Resource Name

Unit of Measure

Default Units/Time

Budgeted Units

Unfortunately, P6 Professional will not read the below variables with column heading including (*).

Resource Type

Role ID

Roles

Max Unit/Time

Standard Rate

Internal Rate

External Rate

Any ideas on an efficient way to import Microsoft Excel resource data into P6 Professional?

Any input?

one of the easiest ways to do this is to create a generic resource call it lump sum.

then assign all of the activities to that one resource.

then eport the resource and the budgted units and budgeted cost to excel

Then populate these values in excel and import back inot P6

MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU SET U THE RESOURCE THAT CALCULATE COST FROM UNITS IS NOT CHECKED.

Hi Steve,

If you have P6 Excel SDK you can create Resource Dictionary in P6. You can also assign resource to activity. Alternatively, you can use XER Parser and Builder which is requiring a deep understanding of P6 Database in order to create P6 Resource Dictionary and use Excel import/export function to assign resources. See below link for your reference and learn how it can be done.
