Values Stacked Histogram Wrong

Hi all,

Hope someone can get me out of my infinite loop I'm stuck in (i.e looking at the screen, be angry that P6 is not doing what it supposed to do, looking at the screen, etc. etc)

When I look at the graph in the resource usage profile for a particularly resource it shows the right amount of resources in the histogram. But when I tick stacked histogram, it shows wrong values for that same resource. In "resource usage profile options -> graph" I have the same display options (calculate average, base on hours per time period)

 Histogram (H)Stacked histogram (SH)Factor (SH/H)Sub (SH-H)Sub/Factor8-Feb46.6274.891.60639210628.2717.598443059-Feb39.1768.251.74240490229.0816.6895765610-Feb35.2567.031.90156028431.7816.7125913811-Feb42.690.992.13591549348.3922.655390712-Feb45.9596.562.10141458150.6124.08377693

Above a excel table I created to indicate the problem. Not only are the values different, there is absolutely no correlation in the differences over the days.

Hopefully someone can help me out:S

Thanks for all help!

Coen

I found out that when I choose to display "at completion costs" instead of units, the graphs are identical. But this makes it only more weird as the costs is calculated by cost/unit * budgeted units right?

Hi Johannes,

Even though the project has not started, and so remaining and budgeted should be the same, this could be the solution. But I can’t find a way to change these settings. Do you know where I can change it?

Thanks!

Hi Raymund,

Let me explain myself better by adding a printscreen from the graphs. To make the issue even more clear I only added only one resource to the stacked histogram (so it should be the same as the "unstacked"  histogram). As you can see I select resource "PPP man" for both graphs.

Thanks.

Hi Coen

Are you sure that you are comparing apples with apples?

I can see in you tabulation that Man ( in green) equals 397.31

In the other tabulation see  that the "Budgeted units" Yellow are 285.70

It might well be that the green notation is for the "remaining hours" and that the yellow notation is the "budgeted units".

These might well be different due to updating the schedule.

Trust this helps

Regards Johannes

Hi Raymund,

Thanks for your reply.  Please see the image below. The first is the stacked histogram for week of Jan 25, the second the histogram of resource MAN of the same week. As you can see, the values for resource MAN in the stacked histogram is not the same as the (unstacked) histogram of resource MAN, but it should be.

Coen,

Stacked Histogram is the Summary of all Resources in that particular period.

While in the Histogram Profile if only the Particular Resource is selected, it shows only the Units of that Particular Resource. If you select all Resources then it shows the Summary of all Resources in that particular period.
