Geoff,
1. Right click on Gannt Chart
2. Select Bars
3. Change the filtering option for "Float Bar" from "All Activites" to "Not Started" & "In Progress"
I hope this helps.

Guys,
Some of this activities have logic and have been completed and are still showing float bars extending to the project finish date.
Hi Geoff,
This happens if you are using "Retained Logic" as your scheduling option. Primavera needs to calculate Early and Late dates in case it has to calculate the dates for the Not Started Successor activities. If you use "Progress Override" or "Actual Dates" in scheduling options, Primavera will stop calculating Early and Late Dates for Completed activities. For more clarity on Scheduling Options, check this link at http://primaverablog.in/2011/07/scheduling-options-%e2%80%93-progressing-activities/
Simon- Even open ended but Finished activities will not have float if you use Progress Override or Actual Dates in scheduling options

Check out my blog on Primavera at http://www.primaverablog.in
In addition to open ended activities...
From http://ronwinterconsulting.com/Understanding_P6_Dates.pdf
Many P6 users are puzzled to see complete activities where early and late dates differ from actual dates. Does that mean P6 calculates early and late dates for complete activities? If so, total float for complete activities can be calculated.
Hi Geoff,
If your tasks are open ended then they will have float until the end of the project.

Simon
