Dear Alaa
Youre welcome
Dieter
Thanks Dieter
i use the following technique to solve the problem
i keep the same resource
but i change the effective date for each rate that i want
in my assignment i have 10 different rates
so for example for Resource ( Helper / labor)
i create 10 rates with different effective dates
so i will just change the effective date to suit the schedule
it is working
and i am still working on your options since they are more professional
please i will come back to you for further assistance
sorry for taking your time but this how the beginner like me use the professional like you
thanks
Alaa
Alaa
You’re right. 5 rates per resource to be selected by default for a project, can be overwritten by assignment (resource to activity): Different rate, different choice from those 5 rates, from roles or budgeted price for the activity.
Just had another idea: If you want to use only one resource, use roles. Assign the resource to 3 different roles with different rates/unit --> create Global Change (group: Resource Assignments) Rate source=role --> assign the calendars --> group by calendar --> select all activities belonging to one goup --> assign appropriate role to each group. If you have one resource per activity, you can use view "Activities", esle view "Assignments".
Selection of rate following calendar not possible - only programming API or SQL.

Dieter
Thanks
i will try the two ways
but it seems it is not available in p6 to change the resource rate whence you change the activity calendar
am i right
thanks

In my opinion Alaa didnt want to do a real resource planning, just to get costs and overall workload. He will easily be able to show a summary curve.
Per assignment the rate can be modified, this will take longer.
Alaa
You can easily replace a resource by another one for a group of activities:
Select the assign-resource icon on the right border of the P6 Window. --> Select all activities where you want to replace resource "Labour" by e.g. "Labour1" --> Select resource "labour" then icon "replace by" --> an additional window will open --> select resource "labour1" --> assign.
Regards
Dieter
If to use different resources instead of one it will be hard to study resource requirements and workloads.
Thanks Dieter,
Actually it is very useful and i can use it
but it is time consuming but at least we know the long solution now searching for the short
thanks again
Alaa
Hi Alaa
I dont believe, this is possible. Rates are related to resources.
A solution might be to use three resources with different calendars and rates and activity type "resource dependent".
Hope this helps
Dieter
