Many thanks, Rafael. This is just the kind of thing I am looking for.
May I suggest the following reference from the Gulf Publishing Company:
Title: Conceptual Cost Estimating Manual
ISBN 10: 0884152677
Author: John S. Page
Pages: 326
Edition: Second Edition
Binding: Paperback
Price: $120.00 Single Price
"This printing gives the construction industry and the management staff of chemical, refinery, and industrial plants the information they need to generate fast, reasonably accurate costs for designing and constructing a specified facility"
You can follow the links:

I give the reference "as is", I am not into Oil and Gas but as a Civil Works Contractor quoted a couple of Civil Works jobs for the Oil & Gas Industry one of which was a Loading Dock/"Berth". My client was awarded the job.
Yes, I use the DDR (Design Documents Register) as the basis for the schedule activities (IFC, IFA, etc). It is very sensible to have the schedule mirror the DDR to ensure common reporting.
The problem I am having is more around getting reliable estimates for the productivity rates / durations of the design activities.
Gary,
It seems that "design activities" are very difficult to plan.
I may suggest to make it simple, like steps or "Document Register"; or "Drawing(s) Register"
suggestions from anyone?
