Global Calendar

Hello Moutaz,

I’d been too busy to came late, may I share some idea in your query about global calendar. Global calendar is always the default calendar of P3 with another base-1 (untitled) calendar. You cannot delete the said calendars, rather you need to configure it for usage in your project. You cannot assign Global Calendar into your activities and resources as the program utilizes by default the base-1 (untitled) calendar. The settings of the Global calendar for your defined holidays and non-work periods will be in effect through all the calendars in your program, therefore it will affect your schedule. About the benefit of the Global Calendar, with its global effect in your project, it would be beneficial for you to make use of it in defining the holidays and non-work periods and any other exceptions you wish to impose in your program, instead of repeating those holidays and non-work periods in every calendar that you will create. Creating new calendars then would just be concentrated in defining work hours and still for other time specifics as to you requirements.

Hope that this is of help to you.

Ferdinand

Hi Moutaz,

I believe you need to assign the certain calendar (specific) to your project. Global calendar, I think will not affect if not assigned (though i’m not sure). Anyway, you can easily see it if it really has effect, by showing "neck" on holidays.

Dear Samad

Thanks for your reply, but what is the benefit of global change if no holidays were defined?

Also, I can define holidays in another calendar without assigning holidays to the global calendar.

Regards,

Moutaz
