As usual, you have some good points here. I agree that we should have a simple page that shows the forum / groups requirements and tollerations etc etc.



The forum scripts already have the functionality to allow specific members to edit any of the posts that appear. It cant be difficult to adjust that to allow deletions etc. However. Deletions would mean that any responses to that deleted post would also be defunct - so would we would need to autmatically delete these too. That could be a problem. Perhaps it is better to simply allow message editing such that any offensive or blatant adverts could be edited out while additionally giving the moderator a place to leave a suitable warning or explanitory message, if required?



One of the next major things on our development list, after improving the job alert function, which is causing us severe problems, is to allow a user OR moderator, to receive an email whenever a new post is made to a chosen forum category - a large number of members have asked that they can be kept abreast of all new posts being made to a certain forum etc, hence the required forum email alert thingie.



Bernard, thanks loads for your kind offer. Lets see if we can move things forward on this front. For our moderators protection, we need to develop our policy-rules etc in order to allow a moderator to make changes as he / she sees fit - without any attachment of blame etc.

Once we have formulated a draft policy-rules, we can move forward on the moderator front for some or all forum categories. I know we have a lot of specialists in the group, hopefully we could find a claims man to check and police the claims category etc etc.

I would be willing to volunteer to moderate a couple of the forums as long as a clear policy can be published so that any corrections can be justified. So what should the policy contain? How about the fairly standard fare:



1. No spam. PP already has sections for listing software, consulting services and job opportunities.

2. Keep conversations civil. This is a professional forum. (Note: this is not a problem right now, but would need to be in a policy statement if moderators are to be able to intervene should the need arise)

3. No cross (double) posting. Post once in the most appropriate forum. Double posts in multiple forums should be deleted.

Hi there,



Yes, but we have been critised before for preventing "free speech". Its a touchy subject.



I think it is a matter of opinion, but I feel that we should have some form of Planning Police, who can edit the posts as and when thought necessary.



Would you, or anyone else like to volunteer as a moderator or any or all of the forums ?
