1984 - 1986 : Position - Site Manager (Building Construction)
Reporting to a Main Board Director and controlling a management team of two general foremen, two site engineers, office based planner, and two quantity surveyors, I was responsible for the running of a Training Centre valued at £1M, Bophuthatswana. Contract awarded after lengthy negotiation with local Government agencies.

Employed as a Project Manager on £12M Multi-Storey building structure in Southend, Essex.
Office based at Colindale, London, I was involved in both tender and contract work.

The role was predominantly associated with planning and monitoring operational projects, with some minor assistance given to the tender/estimating department.
Initially, I was responsible for all contracts within the Eastern Province region, covering approximately one third of the Kingdom and including the ARAMCO and other petro-chemical industries in the Gulf region. My responsibility then expanded to cover the whole Kingdom as contracts were sought further away from the Eastern Province.
Responsible for the preparation and presentation to the Board of Directors and potential Clients both building and civil tenders primarily in the international market. I have prepared tenders for projects located primarily in Russia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and to a lesser extent in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Beirut. Trips to some locations overseas were required to more unfamiliar territories to Taylor Woodrow to assess local market conditions and planning logistics. Tenders for Hong Kong projects were prepared in Hong Kong.
After several months as a freelance planner with Robertson, I was offered the position above. Reporting to the Managing Director, responsible for both Tender and Contract Planning for projects within our catchment. Projects vary in nature within the commercial, public health, and education markets, and are valued from £1M to £50M.
Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director, I was primarily responsible for preparation of the preliminaries, programming, commercial risk, and technical planning input for tenders, and overseeing the on-site planning of the major projects within the East Anglia and North London area. Business areas targeted cover conventional competitive tendering of traditional and design & build projects valued from £2.5 to £15M, including refurbishment and new-build MOD, University works, restoration of historical or ancient buildings/monuments, retail, and industrial projects.
