Pertmaster help

S
S M 👤 Member for 13 years 8 months

After spending 4.5 years in Planning I am transitioning back to a Risk Analyst position to carry out Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis on Pertmaster.

I'm (very) rusty on Pertmaster having used P6 pretty consistently in the last nearly 5 years, can anyone advise any tips when using Pertmaster or any tips or tricks that I should be mindful of when exporting Schedules and running Risk Analysis?

I have the manual and the training certificate but any "real-world" use and advice on using the software tool would be great.

Thanks everyone,

Should risks be used only for those events which have a negative bearing on the outcome of the project

A

Hi,

According to many risks can either have a negative outcome or a positive outcome. So if a risk has a positive outcome why is it considered as a risk and not as an opportunity? I realize that positive thinking says that look at all the risks as opportunities. But doing to defeats the following two purpose

1) It is not objective

2) Does not clearly distinguish between risks and opportunities.

multiple activities affected by a single risk

Good evening,

I have been approached by a PM that I support who has asked a question of which i am unsure how to answer.

The question is about applying a single risk against multiple schedule activities

would the best approach be to breakdown the over arching risk into smaller multiple risks, and apply individual probability and 3 point estimate values on a task by task basis.

The risk is based around Human Resource availability

any assistance would be greatly received

Cheers

Mark

Whats the best monte carlo schedule analysis tool for microsoft project

Hello,

I've been tasked with finding a software that we can use to run monte carlo analysis on our project schedules. The majority of our project schedules are undertaken in Microsoft project (client preferences). In a previous role I used Pertmaster and would like to find a similar solution that could be linked to MSP.

We would like to undertake monte carlo schedule analysis on small to mid size porgrammes (say a maximum of a thousand activities). I've looked at a few solutions online but am concerned about:

Resource leveling in PRA

Hello planners,

Where could I find some comprehensive documentation about the nudge and resource leveling process in Primavera Risk Analysis?

Having tried to level the same project in P6, MS Project, Spider and finally PRA, I find that PRA does not reschedule the project the same way as the 3 others.

Thank you

Some activities become open ended while importing xer file in Primavera Risk analysis

S
sanam negi 👤 Member for 13 years 9 months

Hi every one,

I imported .xer file into primavera risk analysis, and while doing the schedule check I found out that there are some activities which became open-ended, whereas the activities are not open ended in primavera P6 "view log".

Please advise what could be the possible reason or how can i fix this.

Thanks

sanam
