Budgeted Labout Units at WBS Level

A
Ashews Joe 👤 Member for 11 years 6 months

Hi All,

I want to calculate the estimate weights for individual activities based on the labour units for Top down estimation. My idea is to use Global change where in I can divide individual activity's labour unit by the total labour unit of WBS. When I tried, I understood that there is no specific columns in P6. I am not allowed to inport data from Excel. Is there a work around without export the data externally.

Regards,

Joe

EoT (TIA v/s Window Analysis)

Hello,

Can anyone help  understand the difference in between Time Impact Analysis and Window Analysis for the purpose of Extension of Time and delay analysis.

I have refered to few methods but I feel both were same.  I would appreciate any help in understanding the delay analysis techniques also if i can get the procedure to calculate both.

Thanks and regards,

Vineet Singh

Rule of Thumb/Best Practice Resource per m2

M
Mark James 👤 Member for 7 years 6 months

Hi all

Fairly new to the PP site so apologies if i am posting in the wrong feed.

I am looking to demonstrate to a client that the increase in scope requested without increasing the duration at the work face will cause all sorts of resourcing problems.

Problem is the only information we have at the moment is labour hours and a window of opportunity, no WBS nor sequence of any kind.

Help required selecting appropriate production management software.

We run a small machine shop with a design department. We undertake job shop and small batch machining work. We also produce assemblies and machines. This means (especially when considering machine builds) there can be numerous sub-assemblies, sub-sub-assemblies and on. So a comprehensive BOM would be required.

Our shop floor is approximately 50% manual and 50% CNC. This means that operators can have work parts on multiple machines at any one time. This means that each work part requires “time on machine” and “time from operator” as separate entities.

Oil and Gas - Piping Tie In Schedule

Hello Everyone,

What are the Ativities to be considered in a Piping Tie In Schedule. I do know Hight LEvel Activities but would like to know more like breaking it into Level 5.

The case is " The Oil and Gas Plant is live and we would be shutting down the Plant to do the Tie In. So within 3 or 4 hours we need to do the Tie In. And the Tie In is a Welded Joints. so we need to cut the Pipe and Weld a new Pipe to that Line when the Plant is Shut Down.

Hijacked Discussion - Sorry for any inconvenience.

I am opting out of this discussion  - the theme was "Leveling effort instead of resource quantity is wrong" but from the very beginning it was hijacked into a discussion completely irrelevant to the main theme.

Image removed.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
