How to supervise/provide technical direction for planning/scheduling activities of EPC contractors?

R
Raul Santos 👤 Member for 16 years 8 months

If you are on the owner side of an oil and gas company that is developing major oil and gas projects and have to supervise EPC contractors, how would you supervise and provide technical direction to them on planning and scheduling activities? How would you do it?

R
Raul Santos 👤 Member for 16 years 8 months

1.- What information do you look first?

2.- What deliverables are produced by process engineering?

3.- Whatr information does piping receive from process engineering?

4.- What are the main activities in piping?

5.- What information does electrical and instrumentation need from piping?

Engineering Dependancies

M
M S 👤 Member for 15 years 5 months

Hi everyone,

I've never created new topics in any of planning forums, but this time I thought to give it a try, and hopefully you will be able to help/advise/guide me with the quesion I have..

I'm looking for some kind of a list of major engineering deliverable/activity dependancies for Oil & Gas projects (FEED, Detail Design, EPC), i.e. what comes first (P&IDs, PFDs etc) and what comes after or before (logic network). I realize these dependancies can be project specific, but maybe there are some basic standard rules to follow?

Open Pit Mine & Infrastructure Schedule

Hallo Guys,

I am looking for a typical "Open Pit Mine & Infrastructure" Schedule.  We are heading into FEL4 and need to compile the Master Construction Schedule.  Looking at Haulage roads, Engineering workshops, Draglink Workshop, Tyre exchange workshop, Cleaning bay and Tipper workshop, fuel stations (LDV & HDV), offices & change-house and then parking.  It is for a Coal mine.  If anyone has a typical schedule that I can use as a base I would be seriously grateful.  Time is a tad limited, and distance is also an issue, therefore I have to pull o

Copying WBS / Activities

Hi,

My consultant asked me to make a “Time Impact Program” as we have a new MEP sub contractor whose time of completion is seven months and a lot of civil/architectural work is still left from our side. The extension is given to the MEP works and the finishing work that is following MEP only.  What I did to save time, I created a new program “Clause 14 TIP” and copied the WBS with activities of my existing (that I have already exported/saved on the other drive before maintaining the baseline) into “Clause 14.029” program.
