The risk of using relations of start to start for the overlapped activities.

when we start a project , one of the major requirement is to agree with the consultant the relation between activities , or methodology of how activities will be linked together in each field ( engineering, procurements , construction... ect), always all planners care about how to draw the relation , and not how this relation will feed me back during the stages of updating.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Open End Activity

Greetings of the day!!

I have come across a terminology "Open End Activities". As far as P6 is concerned , i am able to decipher only the activities which are not having any relationships i.e. no predecessor and no successor..

What is the significance of open end activities and how can they be averted while scheduling..

Eagarly awaiting reply,

Regards,

Abhishek

Free Float Value in a Schedule

I have a schedule that the contractor submitted with 1,000 activities. Said schedule has approximately 40% of the activities with Total Float greater than 100 days. All of those activities have Free Float of zero. To make this even more fun, there is only one activity on the critical path when using TF less than 1 and 50 activities when choosing Longest Path.

My question is: What is the significance of Free Float and should it be evaluated as a better understanding of the project critical path or project longest path?

Level 1, 2 & 3 Generic Contract Descirptions

Does anyone out there know of any good generic description definining each level of programme for contractual use or can point me in the right direction for a good resource. I've been asked to write a description for inclusion into a contractual document defining what is meant when we refer to level 1, 2 & 3 programme within the contract and the detail contained within each.......

How to focus the Major activities which can reduce the delay in project(using float path and float path order on P6)

When the project is in delay, How to find the major delayed activities (using float path on P6)which you can focus on them, and update them in the next run date when you  update the progress :

1-      Open the last updated progress program (Ex: Run date 2011-04-07).

2-      Make a copy and save it, and rename it by the next run date , for example if you make update every two weeks , then the run date will be( 2011-04-21).

Concern about PP Forum

S
Safak Vural 👤 Member for 18 years 1 month

Dear planners (especially PP Admins),

The PP Forum was one of the utmost support resources for me. I remember the PP family helps about queries I have made and answers I get. I also remember when you search your problem in forum it was 90% findable.

I am grateful to be informed about other software and solutions in the market but when I am surfing forums it does not matter how easy or recurred question is the posts suddenly returns to a which software has the best solution. This situation makes posts to fill-up and hard to find a solution via search.
