Planning for a LNG Project

J
Jian Liu 👤 Member for 15 years 3 months

I was assigned to develop and track a LNG project schedule, but i have no experience in this area.

Is there anyone experienced in this area. This project is a EPC contract.

Can you give me some advice on how to develop this schedule, easy to track it?

Many thanks!

I need your advice on schedule update

I would like to ask the experienced planners and schedulers on what would be the best approach or procedure to follow when updating the schedule on a bi-weekly basis. Some of the questions that would like to be answered are:

1) How do you collect the information?

the baseline

actualy i made the baseline according to the B.O.Q but somet times the B.O.Q is unbalanced in the (quantity & price) so all what i estimate of (cash flow or material or manpower)become wrong

i think that i should make 2 baselines (one according to the B.OQ and the other according to actual surveing) is it right or wrong

Budgeted units Vs Original duration

K
Kashif Khan 👤 Member for 14 years 7 months

whenever i fix budgeted units, the original duration remains the same... why?.. lets suppose if there is an activity of 10 days and the working units are 80 Manhours. Now if i appoint a resource and budget it only 40 hours. then original duration must be changed to 5 days and must not remain to 10 days. i am confused, plz help.

regards,

KK

PMBOK® Guide 5th Edition Review

The PMBOK 5thEdition is open for review and the people who have written the Time and Cost Chapters are so ill-informed they don’t even appreciate the difference between a Modified BETA distribution curve, and the PERT Scheduling methodology that used this inaccurate but mathematically simple distribution to simplify the probability calculations inherent in the PERT methodology.

The standard is open for public comment – you don’t need to be a PMI member to have your say; but I do think the professional planning and scheduling community need to put in a major effort to get
