UN/CEFACT XML schema format, a software-neutral format, is it for real?

Once again a new standard have been adopted by the US Federal Government designed to exchange schedule and cost data in a software-neutral format. This is an important feature for customers who work with US Department of Defense and other US government agencies because as of June 2012 they are required to submit their schedules in the UN/CEFACT XML schema format.

WBS Duration is not same as Activity Duration

A
Ashik GB 👤 Member for 15 years 6 months

Hello Everybody,

I am facing the problem in my Schedule as the WBS duration is not matching with the dates. Duration is showing less than the original duration.

I have already checked my Calenders and there is no problem in that.

The issue is, the activities under WBS Main Plant, Covered Structure & Finishes and Sub Structure Completion is showing correct dates and duration as well. But the WBS duration is showing wrong whereas the dates are corrrect.

So. Kindly help in this regard how to make it rectify.

 Regards,

Ashik

Engineering S-Curve - should construction workpack creation be considered in design deliverables?

Dear Planners

I need your valuable advice

Our planning department have recently got request from senior management to include Construction Engineering man-hours in Project Engineering S-Curve display .

Some planners disagree with this action.

What is the best route to take to break into scheduling?

Hello folks, I'm new to the site and have a few questions that you may be able to help me with. I would like to enter the scheduling field, but I'm not sure what my best route of attack should be to get there. I'm currently a regional safety manager with a large industrial turnaround company. I've got over 13 years experience in the petrochemical field, from operations, to maintenance, to safety and about everything in between. I've helped out with some planning on jobs before and I'm familar with P3/P6 as far as updates, but not really any more than that.

Why is that some people believe you cannot use Physical percent complete if the schedule is not resource-loaded?

M
Matt Ir 👤 Member for 14 years 7 months

Why is that some people say: you can not use Physical percent complete on this schedule because it is not resource-loaded ?

As far as I know, Physical percent complete for the activities has nothing to do with the cost, except for calculation of WBS percent complete field which needs the cost and resource data.

can anyone help clear out this confusion?

Thank you

BOQ Loading in P6

D
D Artagnan 👤 Member for 17 years 9 months

Not that I haven't done it before but I wanna have some discussion on how planners load quantities / cost from BOQ. I am currently studying on how to optimize the use of P6 in terms of valuation / claims / time extension cost impact etc...

I would really appreciate all your replies.
