Mike, on that (off-)topic (and only for the real cricket nerds):
When English cricket was mourned,
And weak bats their line-up adorned,
Gatt thought: "Oh, the umps
Will rule: 'Outside the stumps!' "
But then he was seriously Warned!

Hi Stephen
Heres another
An experienced player named Gatting
Got sledged when starting his batting
An Oz said to Gatt
Why are you so fat?
"After sh**ging your wife I like snacking"
Best regards
Mike Testro
Hi, Mike and Emily! Congratulations to Christopher Henry -- nice job, very poetic.
Now can I go back to cricket limericks?
In youth, his batting was daunting;
Bowlers were always found wanting.
But now his ducks mount;
On one hand we can count
All the runs to be added by Ponting.
Fraternally in project management,
Steve the Bajan
Hi Stephen
That is very good.
Best regards
Mike T.
Thanks Mike and of course, you are absolutely correct about Haiku's. We've just announced the winner here http://www.tensixconsulting.com/2013/05/earned-value-management-haiku/&…;
I hope you don't mind, but I posted your comments along side some other entries as well as I thought you'd made some excellent points!
Emily
Hi Emily
The examples on your link were not true Haiku which must contain the following rules:
1st Line 5 syllables 2nd Line 7 syllables 3rd Line 5 syllables
It must have some relation to the seasons
It must have some spiritual or phylosophic content.
Here is an example of one I wrote when I was in Tokyo - nothing to do with EVM which is not a proper topic for a pure Haiku
High in winter skies
Flying to new horizons
How the wild goose cries
And one that my Grandson wrote for a school project
Man tickles for trout
In a deep icy river
Gets frozen fingers
Best regards

Very good. I'll add that to the entries. I wonder if your students will come up with anything now they're all on break!
Emily, unfortunately my semester is over. But it's not a bad idea -- I'll blast an email tomorrow.
EVM, eh?
Cost is all there is.
Value? Schedule? Forget it!
Just ess with two bars.

Very good...now if only you could submit a Haiku and you could have a chance to win $100 :-)
Perhaps your students would like the opportunity? The competition ends in two weeks!
Emily
Hi, Emily. Will you accept a scheduling palindrome instead?
No! I tag no legal SS lag "elongation"!
