Level of effort

Hi All.

Can anyone please help?

I am trying to creat a level of effort activity and have linked it as a SS with its predecessor and FF with its successor both with zero lag.

When I schedule, the level of effort activity only shows the start date as start and finish date with zero duration. I have tried putting the number of duration and finish date manually but it goes back to showing start date with zero duration and a negative float of 1 as soon as as I schedule.

Please help.

Cheers!

Statistics or Project Success studies

All,

I am looking for any studies or whitepapers that have been conducted on;

1) Project Startups - The increased chance of project success if the planning and initial setup is done thoroughly

2) Project Execution - The lowered risk of project failure through the incorporation of a robust approach to schedule maintenance and progression

Basically, I'm looking to provide tangible data that supports the incorporation of a planning and scheduling team or person into the project team from startup through to execution.

Budgeted Labor Units changes after import

Dear Schedulers,

For some reason after importing my schedule in another computer with P6, my budgeted labor units slightly changes (from 805,700 manhours to 789,500); all user settings seem to be identical in both machines. Please help, I gotta get my baseline schedule approved shortly.

Thanks, Sean

A

I want to prepare revised program – but instead of using last update copy I want to prepare totally new program – of course the completed activities will be added as summary activities ( high level ) with 100% Status

Is this accepted contractually

Recognizing and Measuring Period Performance

Good day!

It is understandable that the majority of the efforts in planning and scheduling are centered around activities to the right of the data date line on the Gantt chart. What is surprising to me is the apparent lack of concern on the project's performance during the currrent update period. It is not uncommon to see the schedule update process rush directly from progress reporting (left of the data date) to non-progress revisions (the right side of the data date) without any consideration of period performance.
