I'm a construction planner of offshore facilities such as fixed platform, FPSO, SPAR for oli&gas industries.
WE've divided FPSO into small structural block (200~400 EA) and prepare consruction schedule for each small structural block.
And then small blocks are assembled and become FPSO.
The current schdule is definitely area (structural block) basis but client want to change it into system (function) basis like oil, gas, water, diesel, electricity, etc (about 40 system)
because mechanical completion (MC) should be completed per system.

Hi Members,
Can anybody help me with updating activity % complete from importing excel file. I am currently facing issues in this. I can and have been able to export my p6 file to excel, update and re-import and its all working fine for BudgetedTotal Cost, Budgeted Unit, Duration and so on. But for Activity % Complete, it is not working?
Pls Help
Hi All,
I made a schedule of about 99 activities and after running my F9 (schedule), I found out that all my activities have
negative total float and turned every activities to be critical because I set my critical to "Total Float equals or less than 0hr" but when I changed to "Longest Path", then I have like 70 critical activities.
My question goes like this: Is this normal? If not what do I need to do.
Hi All,
Can you pls explain the real meaning of Data Date in P6. Is it the same thing as Project Kick Off Date (Start Milestone) and if it is or not, does it need to change anytime I reschedule.
So I've been extremely frustrated as of late with importing schedules for numerous reasons.
1) we have the contractors resource the non-labor units to match their contractual $$ so we can do earned value off their physical % complete. With the non-labor units we create non-labor resource at a $1.00/hr rate
2) we have them load the manhours into the labor units and assign a labor resource, and they can progress their actual manhours burned
3) when i import their schedules i'm having numerous issues quite regularly and i'm not sure whats going on

Morning Fellow Planners,
Hi All,
Somebody gave me a Construction Activity schedule but when I run it using "Total Float less than or equal to Zero (0)" I saw no critical activity but when I changed to "Longest Path" then I saw my critical Activities in Red Colour.
Can anyone explain the best way to define critical activity and what is their pros and cons between these two?
1. Total Float less than or equal to Zero (0) or
2. Longest Path
Thanks
Hi,
I am relatively new to planning. I am planning my first job, to build 4 large pipelines. The pipelines are over 500m in length each, and run parallel to each other. Each pipeline needs to grow at the same time i.e. not construct the first pipe, then the second etc.
I have input each activity to build each pipeline, and input the logic for each pipeline i.e. install the first section of pipe before the second section etc.
