Baseline submission to Client

K
Kannan CP 👤 Member for 18 years

Hi all,

I have a question.

In the Contractor's submitted baseline schedule to a Client, the Client planning enginner found that the design review by the Client (Engineer) is in the critical path of the project. How should he respond to it?

For eg: the sequence as; Design documents submittal (Contractor)-Design review(Client)- Design approval-Shop drawings /method statement preparation-major civil foundation construction-major equipment/mep works-commissioning-Completion

Absence management in scheduling software

E

Dear all,

I have a question regarding practical approach to absence management. Under absence I mean things like vacations and public holidays.

In 2 products, familiar to me (Microsoft Project and Spider) this is meant to be done via calendar exceptions with small difference in how it is implemented.

Woo-hoo! Top 20!

#19 on the Amazon.com Best Sellers List in Industrial Production & Management! Can the New York Times Best Seller List be far behind?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/13773/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_b_1_5_l…

This isn't a brag, guys -- the book just came out, there's always an initial burst of buying. Chances are that it will never see the Top 20 List again after this weekend. But it's fun and I wanted to let my many longtime friends on this site know so that they can be happy for me, too. (I know, you're probably better at schadenfreude, but...  :-) )

Revised baseline due to Client delay & reduction in scope of works

K
Kannan CP 👤 Member for 18 years

Hi All,

In one of our projects, we have a situation as follows;

1. Baseline programme submitted and approved as noted.

2. Monthly basis updating is ongoing. It shows some delay because of the delay by client in allocating the site. We sent the EOT claim, but the client is not accepting it.

3. Few months later, client give instruction to reduce some scope as well as to add a few more sope of works. This changed the logic of the schedule and no more useful to compare with the original baseline (for performance measurement)

Non-Linear Actual Resource Units Spend

Hi all,

New to the forum, signed up specifically to ask this question.

I'm trying to add actuals to a plan of mine and I'm zoomed in so I can see the days within the week. When I assign, say, 40 units over 5 days, it will split it:

Mon: 8 Tue: 8 Wed: 8 Thu: 8 Fri 8

I receive timesheets where the units are irregular and are not linearly spread, for example:

Mon 6: Tue: 10 Wed 7.5 : Thur: 8.25 Fri: 8.25

Critical Path Method: A Tale of Two Methods

There are two competing methods to the calculation of the critical path. One method boasts the adoption by Oracle Primavera P6 while the other is considered the appropriate approach on the Project Management Institutes (PMI) http://ow.ly/BOwJ0
