P6 Nonlabor resource units multiply on import from another datebase

Hi

I've been a member for a long time now & found hints & tips very useful, here's my problem.

P6 Nonlabor resource units multiply on import from another datebase.

I used P6 and had to copy my project to a different computer. I have many resources & costs with in the project activities. however when ever I import a project into a "CLEAN" database, (I stress clean to stipulate that it's not already littered with other resource ID's) my NONLABOR resources, UNIT's only, multiply by a factor of 8.

P6 keep crashing

R
Ron Liu 👤 Member for 9 years 4 months

Hello everyone,

I have been using P6 v8.2 for a couple years but recently I found the software crashes more often when I do export/import, F5 and F9 for reschedule. The amount of schedules and people accessing the database have increased over the year. We also have a lot of acitivity codes, filters and calendars that we don't use. Does anyone know if those are the cause for the software to crash?

Thank you.

Too many layouts and filters!!

K
Kevin Smart 👤 Member for 9 years 8 months

Hi all,

We work in a massive single project with tens of thousands of activities. Multiple users create hundreds of global layouts and filters.

I'm a relatively new user and haven't found an answer to these challenges ...

Is there a way to set favorite layouts, including globals, that would make it less painful than scrolling through hundreds?

Also, when in a layout, if I want to modify a filter, I have to scroll through hundreds of them to get to the one that's checked. There's got to be a better way. Is there?

Much thanks!

Level of Effort or WBS Summary

V
Vignesh S 👤 Member for 11 years 1 month

I am in the process of preparing an impacted schedule. For which, I need to break single activity of my baseline schedule into multiple due to constraints experienced during execution.

Foe example. In my baseline shcedule i considered single activity called d-wall works. But, in my impacted schedule I want to split it into 2 like d-wall with utility hindrance and without utility hindrance.

A
Ali Murtaza 👤 Member for 10 years 10 months

Dear Sirs,

Greeting!

My apology if my question is already discussed before.

Question:

My client require each activity of my schedule to be LOADED WITH COST OF RESOURCES. i.e.

A. Labor, Material & Equipment needs to be loaded with PRICE/UNIT

B. BUDGETED COST for each activity to be calculated as PRICE/UNIT * BUDGETED UNITS

C. Total budgeted cost of the project should be equal to BOQ cost (contract cost).

Can you please help me in this issue?

Maintaining a Continuous Critical Path While Using a 24-Hour Calendar for Relationship Lag

Defining a 24 Hour Calendar for scheduling relationship lag works well to schedule the seven day weekly curing of material. The critical activity definition, however, may require adjustment. If you are not monitoring activity constraints then define critical activities as longest path. Here we look into this more http://ow.ly/JL6V3087oIl

Created New install of Primavera and SQL yet cant connect to it remotely

Hi all,

we have a currently running version of P6 R8 that is failing so I have attempted to create a new one.

I have created a new server and installed SQL 2016 express and configured this. I have then installed P6 on the server, and it can connect to it via the SQL method however if i try the same configuration on another machine i am getting the Prompt "Bad public user name or password. [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.;"
