Can MS Project change the % assignment, when doing resource leveling?

E
Evgeny Z. 👤 Member for 18 years 4 months

Hi, I am just wondering, whether MS Project can do the following:

Situation:

Task1 has priority 1000, duration 5 days (Mon-Fri) and resource A, assigned 50%

Task2, has priority 500, could start on the same Monday, has resource A assigned 100%. Task is effort driven.

As a result, before leveling, this schedule creates resource A over allocation (150%) for Mon-Fri.

What I want:

MSP Resource planning and tracking question.

B
Bogdan Dinu 👤 Member for 13 years 9 months

Hi guys,

Would like to now how you plan your projects with resources/hours.

Right now I am using Duration, Work, Rem Work and Act Work for tracking a project.

Some only use Duration and then work with the Task Usage sheet I think?

Would appreciate some feedback around this.

Regards

BD

Equipment as work resource

Hello all,

What is your best practice in assigning both non-people resources (equipments, tools, instruments etc...) and people resources as work resources to the tasks in multiple resource assignments ?

In addition to expecting your invaluable comments on that, there are some areas that I'd like to have your opinion as well:

Free tools for planning, scheduling, tracking multiple projects

Hello all,

I would appreciate if you could share your experience/recommendation for free PM tools (excluding Excel-Gantt alternatives) in task-based planning, scheduling and time-based tracking of multiple small projects (e.g. internal projects). Indeed, I am looking for an alternative to MS Project to use in project environments where PM tool is not used for resource management. I am aware of some free tools available but it is important to have feedback from users. I may need to create recursive tasks as well.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Anyone used SAP PS for MSP integration?

C
Craig Adams 👤 Member for 14 years 5 months

Hello Fellow Planet Planners,

Have had only one response on this, so not many people integrate SAP and MSP???

I would have thought many would have experience in this area, is that everyone is so scarred they don't want to talk about it??

Has anyone learned how to integrate SAP & MSP?

Kind regards,

Craig Adams

How to Handle Diif Calendar in EPCm Schedule

K
kumar s 👤 Member for 16 years 4 months

Dear All,

I have created an EPC Schedule which consists of Eng,Proc and Cont Activities.Since this is a Turaorund Project During the construction phase the work will be done 24 hrs.

I have following settings in my project.

Project calendar is Standard.( 5 days a week and 8 hrs per day).Since this will be the working duration from Engg to proc Phase.

How ever in the construction period the working hrs should be 24 hrs per day.

so i have assigned task calendars to all the activities.

My default working hrs per day is 8 hrs from 8
