The Torus Installation Group is a component of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority. The group is responsible for all operations outside, and supporting those within JET, the world’s largest experimental Fusion Reactor facility. I joined the group as a Planning Engineer after the successful role I played in planning of the 2003 – 2005 In-Vessel Remote Handling Shutdown Operations.

Key responsibilies:

  • To initiate, maintain & publish ongoing site plans relating to the operation and maintenance of JET, its services & facilities;
  • Earned Value Management;
  • Participation in Risk Management;
  • Development of What-if Scenarios;
  • Definition of schedule performance metrics and reporting to project team;
  • Resource estimation;
  • To design, maintain & publish enhancement project plans for multi-million pound investment and procurement contracts;
  • Interface with various customers to identify critical resources and activities to ensure project objectives can be accomplished;
  • User of the following planning software packages - Primavera Suretrak, P3 Version 3.1, Primavera P3e Version 4.1, 5.0, Primavera Contractor, Microsoft Project 1998, 2000
