Hello,
I'd be grateful if anyone could give me some pointers as to how I might share my Level 4/5 working level detailed schedule with the client. I dont want them to see all of our secrets and also dont want to have to create a duplicate, but more summary scedule.
Has anyone got some ideas on a suggested best practice approach please.
Thx Dean
Hi.
As most contracts require a contractor to submit and maintain an “approved baseline” (including a soft copy they can import and interrogate) the common practice is to have to work with a secondary, more detailed version IF the contractors team feel there is merit in scheduling their works in a more detailed fashion and hiding some truths, while using the approved baseline as the communication tool with the client.
the only way I’ve found to share a summary schedule with a client is to roll it up and share a PDF. However clients, and the contract normally expect that pesky soft copy so they will see your detail - as you know if you strip it out and just leave the summary, the logic will fall apart - hence having a shared approved baseline.
This is a continual challenge! Does this help?
just create an export filter of the schedule data with the details you are prepared to share with the client. Talk to commercial over cost data and potential future claims arguments and PM over resources, changes to include etc. Record monthly activity update changes in a UDF column and align with EW Notices / Delay Register. Think of it as a contract document submission.
