first of all, please don’t call me Sir, cost monitoring is quite difficult to implement especially if you don’t have full access to the data/information needed. I suggest that you concentrate on schedule monitoring (for a start), in other words, you find out how task durations were derived, and if the project is workable using the estimated task durations (based on what/where?). For cost data, you can use excel, you can also generate s-curves from excel.

To sir Anoon,

Thanks for the advice sir.Sir may i know what program you are using? Are you using P3 too in monitoring? I havent tried using the program to cost monitoring yet, isnt it difficult due to actual inputs of actual cost within the span until the project is done? In addition, how does the software creates the accomplishments s-curve,i know its by weights but how?...you know pm’s cannot understand this kind of program generated reports and sometimes this makes me confused too. Thanks!

Best regards,

Eric

I believe that the two most important matters in a Project are cost and time, so monitor from there.
