first of all, please dont call me Sir, cost monitoring is quite difficult to implement especially if you dont have full access to the data/information needed. I suggest that you concentrate on schedule monitoring (for a start), in other words, you find out how task durations were derived, and if the project is workable using the estimated task durations (based on what/where?). For cost data, you can use excel, you can also generate s-curves from excel.
To sir Anoon,
Thanks for the advice sir.Sir may i know what program you are using? Are you using P3 too in monitoring? I havent tried using the program to cost monitoring yet, isnt it difficult due to actual inputs of actual cost within the span until the project is done? In addition, how does the software creates the accomplishments s-curve,i know its by weights but how?...you know pms cannot understand this kind of program generated reports and sometimes this makes me confused too. Thanks!
Best regards,
Eric
Sir James,
Thanks for your reply. You see im also a newbie in P3, and Im planning for almost 8 months now. Sir may I know about this "earned value" your talking about? I think i somewhat knew something about it but could you explain it to me further sir.You know it would be of great help for me and it will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
Best regards,
Eric
Have you used a method called Earned Value?
James.
I believe that the two most important matters in a Project are cost and time, so monitor from there.
