...and change the column heading for "Cost" to "Remaining Work".

Willem,

There is one way of doing it, although it is not "nice".

If you do not cost load your programme, i.e. the cost fields are empty, you can do like the following in the Task Usage view:

1) Introduce "Number1" being customized to "([Work]-[Actual Work])/60", also calculating for summaries

2) Copy "Number1" values into "Cost"-column by Paste Speciel / Paste Links

3) Change symbol for currency to "hrs" under Tools / Options / View

This should do the trick.

Willem,

my mistake!"Remaining work" field does not exist in the Task Usage or Resource Usage details

and it is not possible to use a custom field instead

the only way to distribute the remaining work across the project duration is to export the data to Excel by using either File, Save As, Excel crosstab or MS Project’s new Visual Reports

Willem,

very strange indeed!

are you sure you cannot display the Task Usage screen and right click on the word "Work" in the right hand pane? or double click on it?

Give me your email by Private Mail (click on the gray envelope close to my name) and I will send screen shots to you

That specific option is not available. That is why I take Work and subtract actual work. Please send a screen shot if possible of it.

Willem and Darren,

"Yes you can" !

Right click in the right hand pane of the screen, and select Remaining Work in the pop up menu; or select Details and set up the fields in a particular order from top to bottom

Willem,

OK I’m on the same page as you now, the simple answer is no I don’t believe you can.

Unfortunately I think the only option you have is to keep on using Excel to generate the information you require.

I would like to see it spread out over the project. In the columns to the rights. What I do now is subtract Actual Work from Work and that gives you the remaining work. The problem with this is that I have to do everything via excel witch leaves me vulnerable for mistakes.

Hi Willem,

Insert > Column and select Remaining Work from the Field name drop-down menu.

You can customise and alter any view this way.

Darren
