Hello All,
I have recieved an excel spreadsheet that contains about 500 rows and 8 columns.
The columns are:
Project Id
Project Name
and 6 other columns that match our Project Code directory.
My question is, do you know of a way that this spreadsheet can be used to create new projects in bulk?
Regards,
Rod
guess they need a 64 bit version
Rodel, Zoltan,
Thank you both for the assistance. I had to install Office 365 32 bit version to get the Parser file running. All working as described now.
Much Appreciated.
Rod
Hi Zoltan,
Tyhanks for the file but I can't get it to run either, I am using Office 365, do I need an earlier version of Excel to have this working without errors?
Rod

Hi Zoltan,
Would you please email those parser instructions? I can't get it to run, just errors of not finding file.

Hi Rod,
The purpose of creating 2 or 3 Project in P6 is to have sample data to see or review so you can familiarize on the data that will be exported to xer and excel by xerFileParser. Once you get the idea, you can just copy and paste the project id and project description on the correct field and populate the other fields. Let me know if there is any issues.
Hi Rodel,
Great, I will download it from that link.
Just to clarify, I want to auto-create projects without having to first create them in P6. I will be bringing approx 1,000 projects in. Here is a screen snip and attached is a sample spreadsheet with only 200 rows, but you get the idea.
(Hmmm, I can't insert the spreadsheet)
Zoltan, I have not included the other 6 columns as I am not concerned about them at the moment but they are columns that are mapped to some specific Project Codes that we have created.
Hi Rod,
You can download it from the internet. There also some tutorial on how to use it. See below link.

The best way of doing it is by creating 2 to 3 Projects in P6 including the Project Code so you will be familiar with the data. Open all the 3 projects created (Just place holder and NO WBS , NO Activities) and export it to XER. Open the xer with the XERFileParserBuilder and fill the the project data and project code. I assumed you are familiar with P6 database field to understand the heading of the XER table. Should you have any issue, let me know. If you can share the spreadsheet, I can build the xer for you.
can you share the spreadsheet or a pic of it. Some fields are importable into primavera and some are not.
Hi Rodel,
Yes, I just want the placeholder/shell created because then I will copy my template wbs into them. What is this tool you speak of?
Thanks,
Rod
Hi Rodney,
Do you mean adding those project into P6 Database without WBS and Activities?
If you are familiar with xerFileParserBuilder you can build XER with all the project in one XER and import to P6.
