I have seen many companies struggling with SAP even for basic things such as knowing where in the world their Gas Cylinders and ISO containers are and where will be next week, or where is their rental equipment if their business is to rent equipment. Others struggle with SAP data entry such as postings for Good Receipts. Cost integration on a multinational corporation with the Primavera limitation on single global financial periods can be a nightmare.

Make sure you can make some comprehensive test runs and that IT will be able to supply support ASAP when required.

In my opinion Primavera PM software is a glorified PM software of the 60's that bring nothing new to the table, if to choose such limited capabilities I would rather use the PM tools from SAP.

In case you are interested on the basics only at least make sure it can produce reliable results.

You must use the Windows client - called P6 Professional - and not the web client. 3/6/9/12 months of called PM work orders is a lot of data, too much for a browser.

My choice would be to use Collabro's Legare to integrate with SAP. The good news is you have a choice in integration tools, and shoud put that whole job out to tender.
