[[wysiwyg_imageupload:4877:]]After updating & scheduling the program for weekly progress my manager asked me to show him the update, he particularly pointed out that the finish date of activity "Node 1 to 2 Bedding" (selected in screenshot) is not realistic as it take very less time (at the most 1 day for this area) and then he asked me to bring the date back to end of May 17 which as per current update shows finish in december 2017. My problem is that If i start doing this on program of 4600+ activities every week, i cannot finish my work ever on time. This is a Recovery schedule and i am permitted to change relationships & durations.
My question is that why does it happen and what are the ways to resolve it.

glad we could help
Thanks Mike Testro & Zoltan for your valuable feedback, that was helpful.
ok you now have a measured mile so base your duration on this measure mile for activities not yet started
Hi Ayman
Even in P6 you can run a filter on the task and do a global change - 10 minutes max.
Save the original file first.
Best regards

Zoltan Palffy Thanks for your reply, 1 Node represents 300m of pipe line (single) and in this case its double line means 600m, in the past we have completed 500m of twin(means 1000m) line easily with in 1 day. Considering previous progress this activity completion shall take one more day to complete or should have remaining duration 1 day.
it happens because you originally OVER ESTIMATED the duration. Where did the original duration come from ? What is the basis for the original duration and what is the basis for the statement that it will only take 1 day. Is there any quantiies assoicated with this taks is it Bedding for 5 square yards or for 5,000 squarte yards ? Is there any historical information based on this type of work within your company ?
The way to resolve it is to get good defendable duraitons when you create the schedule.
